It was our honor to open the show for Mdou Moctar, a Nigerien/Tuareg guitarist & Sahel Sounds recording artist who has been blowing our minds on record for about two years now. The room was packed & the audience was happy to share beams of pure love with us throughout our set (& afterwards). By some miracle we got an extremely good recording.
& Mdou, who was thrilled to be in the hometown of his (& my) hero, Jimi Hendrix, played a mindbending set, everyone in his band was almost unbelievable, it took about three songs for the trance to sink in but by the end of the night I was screaming out loud at every drum fill. Wow!
